Dress Code

In general, you should dress in a manner that shows professionalism and pride in your appearance.

Take notes:

  • Men must wear a shirt and tie everyday.
  • Pantyhose, stockings or socks are required.
The following items are prohibited:
  • Denim from Monday to Thursday. It is allowed on Fridays.
  • Prohibited everyday: Sports gear: sneakers, sweatshirts, t-shirts, hiking boots..

Training

Teachers of both campuses have been in training, showing their expertise as Language teachers.

During these sessions, they had different activities. In one of them, they played different roles as demanding, careless or mean teachers or students, and had the opportunity to analize each situation.  In all of them, we agreed that it is the teacher who determines the development of his (her) class and students, so, it is important to know how to handle material and some key points that help us in a classroom.

Take note of the following important key points:

The topic of the class must be written on the board.
Elicit from students an affirmative/negative sentence as examples, so students have them on sight all the class.

You have a format to practice verbs. The first ten minutes of the class, work with verbs, practice verbs, play with verbs, use them. As a student told me once “We dislike them, but they help us”. What about if we modify that phrase and we say:
“We learn them and they help us”.

One of our goals is that our students improve the use of verbs in written and in spoken.  You have quizzes (5 verbs) and exercises for homework (10 verbs). They have a consecutive number so you can choose the number that you need or you decide to work with. We will have a suprise contest, so practice with your students.

A tidy blackboard, helps student understand and learn.

Be sure your students understand concept and structure.

While writing on the blackboard, have eye contact with your students and keep talking or eliciting from them.

Use different materials and techniques. An interesting and funny class, will give students meaningful learning.

The TTT should be the minimum, students must produce so practice is essential.
